Eclipse Formatter-The New Jalopy One of the Java Code Style preferences is the Fomatter. Basically this Formatter handles all the Jalopy tasks of formating/beautifying code. You can setup new profiles and import/export these profiles.

Thus, realistically for a specific project you might have these xml confgiuration files for the programming team; sun_checks.xml, project_checkstyle_checks_overriding_sun_checks.xml, project_formatter_profile.xml, and the java.header file. Right now, there is not a direct integration between the profile.xml settings and the checkstyle rules.

However, you should be able to after reading the Checkstyle configuration readme be able to write a new checkstyle check file that integrates with the Formatter profile settings you have choosen in the Java Code Style Formatter.

Seems somewhat better than worrying about the Jalopy and Checkstyle clashes.

Eclipse 3.2M4 and Checkstyle If you are using Eclipse 3.2M4 you will have to switch from the Checkstyle Eclipse plugin(eclipse-cs project at sourceforge.net) to Checkclipse(provided by MVMSoft.de) as the first one does not load in Eclipse 3.2M4.

As far as Jalopy and Checkstyle harmony, most o fthe mpages have been deleted form the las titme I talk about this from internet. However, you can still pull up the Maven checkstyle configuraiton xml wiki page(from acrhive.org) which you should be albe to modify to use as a check style config file when using jalopy and check style.

ArgoUML to Eclipse Encore/EMF With the coming up release of Eclipse 3.2, I think its time to update the Argo2Encore plugin to ArgoUML 18.1 and Eclipse 3.2. Argo2Encore allows one to create ArgoUML diagrams and than have those translated to Ecliplse Encore/EMF formats.

BenQ SMTK J2ME emulators Eclipse Integration Part of the x-mas gift we got from BenQ after acquiring Siemens was the integration of x75 BenQ emulators and sdks with Eclipse 3.1. The plugins can be found in the SMTK_3X\bin\controlcenter\plugins sub directory. You will also notice that they recommend using EclipseME along with Eclipse.

A JL Toop100 Contributor My postings about Eclipse Technology at EclipseZone and Java Technology at JavaLobby has resulted in me being named a Top100 contributor at JavaLobby for 2005. A nice Amazone gift certificate to upgrade some of my programmers reference bookshelf is the main prize along with the knowledge of so many readers of the postings.

OOo Migration Almost finished with my migration to OOo 2.0.1. The way I am migrating galleries is to zip each distinct gallery of images that does not have themes and use a modification of this Install Gallery Construction Set Macro to load it just once.

This way I can just use these macro docs to reinstall gallerie sin new upgrades so its somewhat automatic.

Eclipse Haystack For those for us that use haystack, the Haystak update contains a bug. The edu.mit.csail.haystack.fs_1.0.8 plugin is missing the required plugin.xml file. Look at the plugin.xml file for the corresponding feature plugin to get an idea of what the missing plugin.xml should contain.
